Born out of the multi-dimensional musical frenzy of New York City, Briana Cowlishaw’s ‘Paper Mâché City’ is a collection of songs that one would call stylistically and sonically diverse. Briana’s music fuses elements of pop, jazz, folk and rock with a modern day Beatles flair, as she likes to describe it! The drums, guitars, electric bass and keyboard synth arrangements scream reference to the beach boys. Her sweet tempered vocals and honest lyrics tell a story of life, love, confusion and realisation like the greats Joni Mitchell and James Taylor used to do. All the while, an underlying grounding in the jazz language and all it’s delicacies cannot be ignored. A playful and quirky approach to 11 beautiful compositions, Briana’s ‘Paper Mache City’ moulds its own niche in the Australian music scene!
