Xenia Rubinos is a difficult-to-classify songwriter, keyboardist, and jazz-styled chanteuse based in Brooklyn, New York. Raised in Hartford, Connecticut in a household with Puerto Rican and Cuban heritage, she sings in both English and Spanish. Rubinos studied voice at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she met drummer Marco Buccelli, who played on her debut album, along with Adam Minkoff on bass. Arriving in 2013 via Ba Da Bing Records, Magic Trix delivered an inventive indie rock bricolage of jazz, hip-hop, funk, Caribbean rhythms, and electronics, and led to multiple tours across the U.S. and Europe. Her equally ambitious follow-up, Black Terry Cat, was released by Anti- in 2016.
