After Rozenboom released a successful recording of the Goldberg variations in 2015, he has now made new recordings (double CD) with only Schubert repertoire. Rozenboom is a very large Schubert fan; he was inspired by his father and grandfather who had the piano repertoire of this composer on the piano at an early age. Since his 10th year he has been playing the impromptus and the dances that have now gained extra depth after 30 years of "maturation". These recordings are unique because Rozenboom has taken extensive time to make his instrument sound optimal in a room with very good acoustics, namely the chapel of the Mariadalklooster in Roosendaal. For 2 months he was allowed to work there every day and the result is an interpretation in which tone formation and pedal use are completely adapted to the acoustics of the chapel. From a year before the recordings, he started working with piano technician Charles Rademaker to make the grand piano sound as desired. The mechanism has been completely re-adjusted and the wing has been intoned a number of times until an optimum sound has been created.
