I am a singer with many musical incarnations. Making this CD, with such excellent musicians, has fulfilled a dream, indeed, a dream that almost died, but, true to Life, has been reborn.
I have performed in Europe, in Russia and, of course, here.
In A Midnight Wind is an album that includes not only jazz standards, but some Brazilian and a few originals. l have written many, many songs in my rather long life. My goal, my artistic goal, is really to touch people. To move them. When I was doing my Graduate work in Jazz Performance and Composition at SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, in my 50s,( I should add,) studying with Jon Faddis, I had to write a thesis at the end. I called my thesis, 'The Power of the Lament: Dr. Billie Holiday". It was about that exchange that takes place energetically between the singer or musician and the listener. That is what I want. I want the listener to feel what I feel. That is singing for me.
