Cubenx - Antipode (2019) [Hi-Res]

Antipode is above all the link between our two countries (Mexico for one, Reunion Island for the other). A link of cosmic origin. The impact of the meteorite that struck Mexico millions of years ago (and killed dinosaurs) then created pressure on the Earth's core, which in turn caused a seismic event. This phenomenon gave rise to the exact opposite of Mexico on our planet, a hotspot which in turn created the two volcanoes of Reunion island (the Piton des Neiges and the Piton de la Fournaise). It is this connection that we have tried to depict: comic / impact / magma.

Cubenx
All our work in residence has had a common thread: magma. The volcanic link between Mexico and Reunion Island, almost antipodal places on the planet but which nevertheless shares common values: complex colonial traditions, a religious faith rooted in society (notably Syncretic Catholicism, paganised saints...). We have above all sought to make this impact and its feedback tangible in our music and artistic discourse.
