Debut album from multi-instrumentalist Adam Turchin ‘Manifest Destiny’ includes collaborations with Terrace Martin among others and represents another high point in the Ropeadope stable of releases. The cosmic jazz washes of the opening track ‘Manifest Destiny’ set the scene for an album typified by mainly, expansive soundscapes that demand attention to their many layers. The wonderful, dream jazz of ‘Destiny is Just A Dream’ blends spiritual with electronica, ‘Coast To Coast’ is a skewered groove while ‘My Mind Is Moving So Crazy’ bends and crashes in all direction but never loses focus. Try the almost ambient jazz of ‘AE’ for something more chilled or ‘Gold Rush’ for a mellow head nodder. Experimental and engaging.
