Petra Várallyay Trio - Deadline Haze (2020)

Petra Várallay Trio is a Hungarian progressive jazz fusion group formed in 2014. Their music is an exciting blend of jazz, rock, metal and folk styles infused with 20th-century classical music influences. As former students of Béla Bartók Conservatory and Franz Liszt Academy of Music, the members are masters of their instruments, creating a solid ground for improvisation and self-expression. The exceptional rhythmic and harmonic complexity of Petra’s compositions mingles with straightforward, instinctive musicality that speaks directly to the audience. Their concert is a captivating journey with an extremely wide dynamic and emotional spectrum, ranging from deeply melancholic soundscapes to intense metal grooves.

In the past few years the trio performed at several international music festivals and prestigious concert venues such as the Palace of Arts, Sziget Festival, Csíki Jazz Festival, Akvárium and Opus Jazz Club. Besides getting more and more attention from a wide range of audiences, they are the recipients of many professional acknowledgements including a Junior Artisjus Award and the “Best Instrumentalist”Award at Sibiu International Jazz Competition. After releasing their first studio album called “Deadline Haze”in 2020, the trio will collaborate with an extraordinary chamber orchestra to premiere Petra’s first violin concerto.
