Arrom & Kaiar - Truce (2020)

Grown from a mutual love of electronics and experimentation, Arrom x KAIAR is a collaborative project from Melbourne producers Melissa Vallence and Karla Gilbard.

Arrom is an experimental vocalist whose work draws from polarities. Born from spontaneous vocal sessions and meticulously sculpted in post production, Arrom’s work delicately balances an unconventional alliance between choral and industrial sounds - evidenced on her Provenance releases 'Take My Lymphs' and 'But Still We'.

KAIAR searches through layers of off-kilter beats and choppy vocal samples to find personal truth. An experimentalist at heart, she too balances serenity and dissonance in her work, and marries those sounds with a potent and plain-spoken lyricism.

The idea of a joint release was clinched over a few bottles of red, as they recognised their musical similarities, and their mutual curiosity for the unfamiliar. 'Truce' is the product of their exploration and collaboration.
