Write Your Adventures Down is a tribute to the great band whose career and music influenced people on both a local and international scale - Grant McLennan and Robert Forster were the two minds behind the outfit that produced sensible pop and angular tunes which showcased some exceptional lyrics. The two were able to compliment each other with their individual signature qualities and work music around them. Similarly, much of this tribute works in the same way - artists bring their signature qualities to the table and work the music around them and this is a reminder of how good, and unconventional, the Go-Betweens were as songwriters
Patience Hodgson from the Grates has the teenage energy Robert Forster originally displayed on "Lee Remick", Youth Group capture the right tone of weariness of Grant McLennan's "Dusty In Here" and Glenn Richards of Augie March gets the edge of anxiety Forster gave to the fabulous "The House That Jack Kerouac Built". Then there's the spooky "No Reason To Cry" from New Buffalo and an atmospheric "Hold Your Horses" from Sarah Blasko and Darren Hanlon.
There are no surprises or unnecessary frills - just a tasteful, classy and justified tribute to the glorious Go-Betweens.
