Nelson Rangell plays with plenty of energy throughout his R&Bish set and sounds fine on flute and piccolo during two tracks but his alto playing can barely be told apart from David Sanborn; the lack of individuality can be a serious problem, even in instrumental pop music. Essentially this is a set of background dance music that stays quite predictable and obvious. Nelson Rangell is capable of better. -- Scott Yanow
