The incredible Birdy releases her third studio album „Beautiful Lies“. The album features 14 new tracks including the current single “Keeping Your Head Up” plus four bonus tracks which was written and co-produced by Birdy.
Talking about the album Birdy said; “This is my coming of age record. I’ve learned so much in the last few years and have been able to use the many experiences – good and bad - as inspiration when writing this album. This is the album that I’ve been able to steer most confidently and proudly, from the writing to the production to the artwork. A lot of the album is about finding light in the dark and overcoming the times when we feel completely lost.”
Accompanied by her trusty piano, which provides the perfect backing for her delicate yet powerful vocals, Birdy has created an album that happily flits between the indie and pop genres.
When hitting play and listening to first track, ‘Growing Pains’, you’d be forgiven for thinking that you were listening to a Kate Bush release. Skip to the third song on the record, ‘Keeping Your Head Up’, and there are definitely influences of Florence and the Machine. The variety of themes evident when progressing through ‘Beautiful Lies’ illustrates the versatility of Birdy as an artist. This is a female musician who truly knows her identity and where she fits within the music industry; something which many bands and singers fail to grasp, even decades into their careers.
The album was produced by collaborators including Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys/Adele) and Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire/Florence and the Machine).
