Dominik Schürmann is the son of jazz pianist Niggi Schürmann. He came into contact with music and especially jazz very early on. At the age of six, Schürmann took piano lessons. At the age of 18 he switched to the double bass and took lessons with Roman Dylag and Isla Eckinger. He quickly became an integral part of the Swiss jazz scene. He has worked with musicians such as Karl Ratzer, George Gruntz, Oscar Klein and David Klein, Adrian Mears, Adam Taubitz, Titi Winterstein, Kurt Weil, Jim Galloway, John Serry, Luis Diego Bonilla, Bonnie Jeanne Taylor, Miguel de la Cerna, Othella Dallas , Andreas Herrmann, Markus Hauser, Colette Greder, Mario Schneeberger, Vince Benedetti, Sam Burckhardt and many more. He has appeared in numerous jazz clubs and at jazz festivals in Germany and abroad. He has been a member of Thomas Moeckel's Centrio since 1998. Several own projects followed, such as the recordings French Classics produced by Swiss radio SRF 2, the Swiss-German recording production Jazz meets Pop, the CD publication Tales of Day and Night with his father Niggi Schürmann and Mario Schneeberger on alto saxophone and the album Upswing, which was one of the most successful Swiss CD productions on the international download platforms in 2016. The CD release «Dahaana» with the Formation Compulsion (including the violinist Adam Taubitz) is one of the most important albums of the jazz violin. In 2017 he founded the jazz piano trio Gutfleisch-Schürmann-Frey together with Christian Gutfleisch and Elmar Frey and published the album Jazz People.
