Pianist Lise de la Salle was born to an artistic family and began studying piano when she was four. She showed extraordinary musical gifts and gave her concerto debut when she was 13. Her primary teachers were Genevieve Joy-Dutilleux, Bruno Rigutto, and Pascal Nemirovsky. She has won numerous prestigious competitions, including the European Young Concert Artists Auditions, the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Mortimer Levitt Career Award for Women Artists, the John Browning Memorial Prize, and the Ettlingen International Competition. Although she has a broad repertoire, she has made a specialty of Russian composers, particularly Prokofiev and Shostakovich. Her growing discography includes solo works and concertos by Bach, Mozart, Liszt, Ravel, Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, and Shostakovich.
