Moon Come Up is the debut studio album by Canadian singer-songwriter Gregory Hoskins and his alternative-folk band, Gregory Hoskins and the Stickpeople. It is worth noting that the album was originally released in 1991—not 1995—on the independent Canadian label True North Records (the band did, however, release another notable album, *Fugitives*, in 1995).
The record brought the group a degree of local fame in Canada, thanks to its melancholic atmosphere and poetic lyrics.
Musically, the album blends the warm, acoustic sound characteristic of the Canadian folk scene with complex jazz elements, a sophisticated rhythm section, and Hoskins’ deep, emotive baritone. In terms of style and mood, the work is often compared to the music of artists such as Bruce Cockburn or David Gray.
