A playful blend of original, vintage jazz and Latin torch. Tara s outstanding sultry vocals are backed by a stellar lineup of Texas and San Francisco Bay area Musicians. Smoky and eclectic, Tara s delivery takes you back to early era jazz, and adds contemporary themes, poetic lyrics, and sassy hooks. "Writing Torch and Sass, my turntable spun constantly with Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Augustin Lara. I was inspired by the live sound of celebration and story-telling lyrics of 1930s jazz." With these vintage sensibilities in mind, Tara set out to write her first stomp ( Recession Stomp ), swing ( Rumor Mill Swing ) and jazz ballads for this, her fourth CD. But Torch and Sass doesn t only salute the past; Tara adds contemporary jazz shuffles, tangos and even an Indian jazz tigress tune to the mix.
