After touring the world for several years, the Argentine jazz guitarist has found his home in Helsinki. Gon Muruaga’s debut feature Postales de un Viaje sin Retorno draws its inspiration from the composer’s numerous journeys and especially the nature of the North.
Freely translated, the title of the album "Mail from a trip from which there is no return" perfectly reflects the mood of the album. The songs are landscapes that combine the experience of space and space. The composer’s journey is still ongoing and is likely to be life-long. The jazz impressionist experience is supported by a composer-guitarist by an international group of top-class improvisers, who from time to time take their listeners from the picturesque landscapes to completely free waters.
Gonzalo Muruaga Olguin (born 1985) grew up in Argentina and graduated from the La Colmena Conservatory in 2011. Since graduating, he has been active in the international jazz field, participating e.g. For the World Guitar Festival in Paris in 2012. He arrived in Europe more permanently in 2017 and finally ended up living in Helsinki, where he has since been actively involved in the lively jazz scene.
Muruaga has previously released the duo album Towards The Colliding Point together with saxophonist Miguel Crozzolion. The album to be released now is Muruaga’s first full release.
