La Dame Noir are the hotly tipped label, bar, club and dj/production crew based in Marseille, France and here they offer up their first ever compilation album. Featuring 13 brand new and exclusive tracks from label friends and family it deliver a superb selection that intends to draw out the summer that little bitter longer. To date La dame Noir has released a nicely nurtured blend of slow, deep and seductive disco sounds from artist all over the world and that continues here with the likes of Frenchman Tim Paris sitting with Brit Dicky Trisco and Marseille native Did Virgo as well as many others. The compilation kicks off with the staggered and slo-mo disco dazzle of Sonns Infinite Spring. A dreamy male vocal sets a full laid back mood and from there Forty Fings Dynamo slightly pick up the pace with a lush, celestial disco burner, Did Virgo bring some down and dirty vibes to the table and Tkuz suspend listeners in an icy synth cloud that chugs along at an inviting pace. The twinkling arps of Fifth Season are aimed a little more squarely at the dancefloor and lift the mood into a celebratory one before Amevicious gets nerves jangling and sense tingling with the taught, rasping synth chords and lumpy basslines of Fashion Is Not A Reason. Legendary French disconaut Tim Paris then mines an elastic and electro tinged vibe with his tellingly entitled Echoes of 1973 and Slow Porn tests the limits of slo-mo with his heartbeat paced trudger, gate 13. Another highlight among many is the La dame Noir production team s The Long Long Goodbye, a spaced out, subtle synth wired song with effortlessly pained vocals from Mounissa. This is a sumptuous debut compilation that offers modern disco lovers plenty to get excited about, at the same time reminding us that La Dame Noir has a fine network of producers at its fingertips
