Eder is a young band based in Berlin/Leipzig. Their strong songs disperse the borders between experimental rock-music, modern-jazz and free improvisation. Not least the musician’s relentless quest for new tonal means of expression gives their music a highly contemporary and never colourless power.
The guitar player Felix Franzke knows how to enhance his sound through the tasteful usage of effects of all shades. Also the other musicians are far from following the beaten track. Together with the young and wild Niklas Kraft on saxophone everything is possible.
His astounding and mature world of colour and sound bears elegiac melodies as well as energetic lines. The diversity in sound of drummer Friedemann Pruß includes dozens of detailed effects such as gongs, music boxes or rattles which are unifying with the distorted or octave-transposed bass of Hendrik Krause. All four musicians are very promising and known in their local scene. They know how to express their individual vitality without loosing the ability to create a homogenous band sound. In doing so, the group reaches fresh and interesting textures throughout their compositions.
Eder sounds lyrical and experimental, minimalist and ecstatic, noisy and soft.
