Pianist Joe Bonner has been among the most enigmatic personages on the contemporary jazz scene for decades, yet his talent is hardly a mystery. Fortunately for jazz and pianist Joe Bonner, enough people have heard. People like legendary drummer Roy Haynes, who hired Bonner to replace Chick Corea in his band at Count Basie's Club in Harlem, and Freddie Hubbard, who Bonner performed with in the early 1970's, as well as saxophonist Pharoah Sanders. Triangle was recorded in 1975 in New York City by Why Not boss Masahiko Yuh and captures well Joe's excellent interpretations of modal based music and advanced hard bop in this stunning trio recital.
