Produced by Dodicilune, distributed in Italy and abroad by Ird and in the best online stores by Believe Digital, "Piscinas", Paolo Zou's solo record debut, is released on Tuesday 26 May. In his eight original compositions, which propose a jazz strongly contaminated by soul and funk, the Roman musician of Sardinian origin, who plays the electric, classical, acoustic and banjo guitar, is flanked by Stefano Rossi on the electric bass and by Alessio Baldelli on the battery.

"Piscinas" is the name of a beach near Narbolia, the Sardinian country of origin of part of the guitarist's family. This place nestled between kilometers of mountains and dunes on one side, and the Sardinian Sea on the other, is an isolated and difficult to reach place. After the ford of two streams, one of which is bright red due to the old iron mines of Ungurtosu, we find ourselves in front of a desolate place, with some courageous "Juniper Coccolone" plant that intersperses sand dunes eye. This beach, for the leader of the trio, is perhaps the most magical place in Sardinia known by him. The cover image was chosen by looking at the vintage collage works of Emanuele Triglia (friend and colleague of Paolo) by chance. Among the many created, one immediately reminded the guitarist of the isolated and somewhat surreal places created by the beaches and dunes of Piscinas.

Born in 1992, Paolo Zou has played over the years with various projects and formations: Inna Cantina, Dumbo Station, Freak Show, Zotrio, Ials Big Band by Gianni Oddi, Maurizio Giammarco quintet and others. With the nuJazz quartet Dumbo Station he has the opportunity to accompany artists such as Dario Deidda, Javier Girotto, Luca Bulgarelli, Danno (Colle der fomento), Davide Shorty, Serena Brancale, Rancore, Rosario Giuliani, Roberto Gatto, Skyzoo (NY rapper, with who record an original Jazz / Hip-hop album). The collaborations with the world of Hip-Hop are constant, which allow him a fruitful musical dialogue with Jazz, his original sound world.

Born in 1993, Stefano Rossi approached self-taught music and then began studying bass guitar at the Saint Louis College of Music. Together with the guitarist Paolo Zou he also plays in the Dumbo Station project. He is currently the bassist of the singer-songwriter Dolcenera.

Alessio Baldelli is a drummer active for years on the Roman and national scene. He has collaborated among others with artists such as Paolo Fresu, Gianni Oddi, Gegè Telesforo, Javier Girotto, Alfredo Paixao. Since 2017 he has also been teaching drums at the Saint Louis College of Music.
