The Granada Kiko Aguado is not only the conductor of the Granada Big Band, one of the few and reputed orchestral groups that survive in Spain, but also arranger, composer and guitarist of refined and exquisite technique. The guitarist and the singer María Romero, a deep voice with a lot of swing, presented last May, this album entitled "After all we"gave", a long-crafted project that proposes us in 13 unpublished and sung songs in English, something unusual in Kiko, which except for the magnificent and rewarding collaboration with the wonderful Celia Mur, almost always chooses to bring out all the possible fruit to the chords of his guitar , of which he is a magnificent virtuoso.
The album is excellently collaborated by the British lyricist, Anthony Paul, who has been able to capture in his texts the spirituality of Kiko Aguado's compositions. They have also worked on the album, together with Kiko Aguado and María Romero, Rogelio Gil, with the alto and soprano saxes, Fernando Lupano, with the double bass, Arturo Serra, with the vibraphone, Nicolás Medina, with the electric bass, and Julio Pérez, with the drums. The album was recorded in Fernando J. Romero's studio in Granada during the summer of 2011
The result is an original jazz record that sounds like authenticity everywhere and engages the listener from the start. It is the first time that María Romero has sung jazz in English, and it seems, because of her excellent pronunciation, that she has been doing it all her life. All tracks are original compositions by Kiko Aguado
