Kammerkoret Nova - To Whom We Sing (2011)

The chamber choir NOVA celebrates 10 years in 2011. We mark this with the release of our second CD. In "To Whom We Sing" we have carefully selected a bunch of our favorite Christmas songs, both Norwegian and English. We have renewed the familiar and traditional Christmas music by collaborating with talented young composers who have given the songs a new tone language. The Norwegian Christmas songs are arranged by the English-born composer Smith, Andrew, who lives in Norway, and the English-language by the Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo, who currently resides in the United States. This has given the events an extra cultural dimension. First and foremost, however, we wanted to create a warm and genuine plate that brings out both the joy and the festive mood that Christmas belongs to. The chamber choir NOVA is known for its homogenous sound and its ability to convey musical moods. The choir has won a number of awards both nationally and internationally. In the fall of 2009, the choir won two first prizes at the Grieg International Choir Festival. That same fall, they also won the adult broadcast orchestra class in "Let the Peoples Sing," the European Broadcasting Union's (EBU's) international competition for amateur choirs. The chamber choir NOVA regularly holds concerts at home and abroad, often in collaboration with other musicians. The chamber choir NOVA has also participated in recordings for other artists, such as Jan Eggum, HGH and Geirr Lystrup, as well as recordings for feature films. This is the Chamber Choir Nova's second release on LAWO Classics.
