Barney McAll - Hearing The Blood (2017)

Blood is both a literal and a metaphorical theme in Barney McAll's new album, aptly titled Hearing the Blood. Across 9 original tracks, McAll and his musical counterparts hone in on the archaic concept that the spirit resides in our blood, and memories taking on an almost physical form. The cover artwork too features blood drawn from Barney's own veins.

McAll is joined by a host of Australian and international artists, including a core band that features Mike Rivett (tenor sax), Carl Morgan (guitar), Jonathan Zwartz (bass), Hamish Stewart (drums), Adrian Sherrif (trombone) and Scott McConnachie (alto sax) as well as guests Ben Monder (guitar), Daniel Merriweather (vocals), Ben Vanderwal (drums), Jenn Gavito (flute), Jade Talbot (vocals), Maeve Gilchrist (harp), Gian Slater (vocals) and the Invenio Singers. The record was captured both in studios in Sydney and in New York City, where Barney used to be based.
