The young Mikhail Mordvinov has recorded 12 Schubert transcriptions by Franz Liszt and Mussorgsky's greatest piano cycle on his GENUIN debut CD, revealing himself to be a true master. From Schubert's first tender oscillations in Sei mir gegrüßt to the sonic cascades of the Great Gate of Kiev, he illuminates the most profound inner worlds of these small delicacies. His Bechstein grand piano has a bright and free sound; after the last notes of Mussorgsky, one would actually like to continue immediately with Schubert: simply "Rastlose Liebe" (Restless Love), as this song is called…
