Off the heels of 2018’s Grammy-nominated album, Heart of Brazil: The Music of Egberto Gismonti, comes jazz clarinet icon Eddie Daniels' new project paying tribute to the world-renowned Brazilian musician/composer Ivan Lins called Night Kisses. After Antonio Carlos Jobim, Lins is arguably the most successful Brazilian popular composer outside of Brazil. He was discovered in the 1980s by a host of American pop and jazz luminaries who seized upon the English versions of his songs reinterpreted by Barbra Streisand, Michael Buble, Sting, Sarah Vaughan, Patti Austin and countless others.
Night Kisses brings Daniels together with legendary jazz pianists Dave Grusinand Bob James, plus the top-shelf trio of pianist Josh Nelson, bassist Kevin Axt and drummer Mauricio Zottarelli, and the Grammy Award-winning Harlem Quartet. With new arrangements by Kuno Schmid and Josh Nelson, Night Kisses collects songs from Ivan Linsclassic albums released during the late’70s/early ‘80s period of his career.
The album was produced by Resonance founder and co-president George Klabin with arrangements by pianists Josh Nelson, Kuno Schmid, Dave Grusin and Bob James.
