‘Eastern Saga: Live at Tusk’ collides the guitar/turntables of Japanese experimental music dynamo Yoshihide against the free swarming might of Istanbul’s Konstrukt. It’s Konstrukt’s 4th live expo on Karlrecords following previous actions with Kenji Haino and Ken Vandermark, and catches them in a furious mood, no doubt egged on by the assembled Geordie mutants in the crowd as well as Otomo Yoshihide’s energies, driving them to roiling peaks of free jazz rock and psych squall, and one killer stretch of motorik steppers velocity that spanners out into killer breakbeat duelling between the two drummers, and unravelling into tattered reverse loops and plumes of fire guitar and sax by the end.
