The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of French conductor Pascal Rophé delivers two new works by Bruno Mantovani. In his orchestral creations (more than twenty scores), the French composer had already explored many expressive possibilities before approaching the genre of the symphony. With his Symphony No. 1, the fixed idea (2015) - a reference to the “fixed idea” of Berlioz's Fantastic Symphony - he questions an ancestral writing process (that of the return of a melody) to reveal all its modernity. In Abstract (2017), he returns to the soloist writing that is dear to him, by confronting the cello (Marc Coppey) with the whole orchestra. This score, designed for the ballet choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot in April 2018, elegantly poses the possibility of a tangible encounter between dance, soloist instrumentalists and the orchestra. Remains of this dramaturgy, a gushing music, constantly renewed and varied: "Although invisible and elusive, writes the composer, my music is always linked to a perception of the world which generates emotions and therefore movement".
