Girls In Hawaii - Nocturne (2017) Hi-Res

A snap of fingers is enough! One enters Nocturne, carried away by the enthralling ritornello to the piano of This Light which opens the fourth album of Girls In Hawaii. We understand very quickly that it is the entirety of the record that turns out to be heady. Nocturne would have been "almost alone" for Antoine Wielemans and Lionel Vancauwenberghe, unlike Everest, the fruit of a long and painful reflection following the death of their drummer in a car accident in 2010. After Here To There (2003), Plan Your Escape (2008) and Everest (2013), the tandem of beyond-quiévrain achieved here a certain perfection in their art. Their pop songs reach an amazing refinement. In production as in the instrumentarium, everything is weighed, nothing is left to chance. And when the album slips very lightly towards the electro, the Girls have the class of Radiohead of Kid A. We leave Nocturne saying, as for its predecessors, that if Girls In Hawaii had the good idea to be of London or New York, and not of Wallonia, their success would have been multiplied by a thousand.
