Clinamen - unpredictable swerve of atoms, origin of nondeterministic philosophy. 'Unpredictability' is the key word for Clinamen's pop music. They made their pop music like biological entities - knew the ingredients, but never expected what the final outcome would be. From the dreamy soundscapes of "Agora" & "Acima" infused with modern classical anxiety to the drony, glitchy subversion of 80's romantic pop in "Aí", "Debaixo" and "Fora". From the bossa nova-inspired "Longe" & "Através" to the deconstruction of 90s techno/jungle rhythms of "Perto" & "Devagar". But "The Tropisms of Spring" is really a jazz album. Electronics are really free jazz drums and voice is really a cool jazz trumpet. Or not. You decide.
"The Tropisms Of Spring is a deeply moving album, and one that elicits a similar emotional response as Kraftwerk's Radioactivity." - Julian Marszalek, The Quietus
"A plastic, original and stimulating the imagination album showing the vitality of various musical aesthetics that are subject to change and transformation." - Bartek Chaciński, Polyphony
"Ostrowski's cold and austere accompaniment enters into a surprisingly successful symbiosis with the exuberant personality of Jakub Ziołek (...) On" The Tropisms of Spring "it is precisely the small bumps that occur at the intersection of both artistic temperaments that make this publication expressive." - Bartosz Nowicki, Dwutygodnik
