On his fifth album, FLAMENCO UTRÓPICO, the Brazilian guitarist residing in Spain for more than 30 years, DAVID TAVARES, one of the greatest exponents of flamenco fusion music on the current scene, once again surprises us with new compositions in a fascinating and intimate exercise in melodic, stylistic and personal introspection.
This new work has the collaboration of guests such as Paquito D'Rivera in Gaucho Vegano (Colombian), Salvador Gutiérrez in Fandango Morisco (fandango), Pepe Rivero, Reinier Elizarde “El Negrón”, David Moreira and Michael Oliveira in Perdido en el Sahara (tangos), the virtuous Brazilian musicians Endrigo Bettega and André Ribas in Flamenco Utrópico (tangos), Beatrice Binotti, Manuel Machado and Fernando Bellver in Old Style, which sounds like jazz from the early 20th century. The album also includes a couple of classical pieces such as Abarrocao and La Rumorosa on solo guitar. It also has the participation of other musicians such as Jorge Tejerina, Ivan Mellén, Arián Suarez and André Prodóssimo.
DAVID TAVARES prints his unmistakable flamenco, classical and Brazilian sound stamp on a handful of original compositions not only in the sense of melody and harmony, but also in the instrumentation chosen for the execution of the songs.
An album to enjoy.
