Michal Tomaszczyk - Sketches from the North (2020)

Michał Tomaszczyk is a leading Polish trombonist, known for his projects on the border of jazz, pop, hip-hop, world-music and avant-garde. He gives concerts with world jazz legends, receives gold records for hip-hop productions, is sometimes involved in premieres of contemporary classical compositions, arranges a brass section for a studio recording or plays salsa in a Warsaw club, all this intertwined with work on the production of music for entertainment TV programs and a lot of related activities .

The musician invited the Swedish double bass virtuoso Petter Olofsson, who finds himself perfect both in acoustic improvised music and in hot funk grooves played on the bass with the band Knower or Louis Cole.

The album consists of Tomaszczyk's compositions inspired by the raw nature of northern Sweden, which has become his new home. The legendary trombonist Nils Landgren acknowledges his review of the album with the words: "I don’t miss a thing on this album, it’s complete."
