Newcomer Tessa Rae’s first release of 2017 is a hypnotically produced slice of panpipe-sampling pop.

Hailing from Los Angeles, Tessa Rae’s brand of pop is sharp and intense, her distinctive voice a honey-sweet compliment to the dance and electro influences audible in each of her tracks. “Young Blood” is the follow-up to last year’s “Seventeen”, its uptempo swagger a contrast to Rae’s slow-burning debut.

"When I first started writing this song, I couldn’t get the phrase ‘young blood’ out of my head,” Rae explains ever email. “It’s a song about falling for someone older than you and realising how hard it can be to relate at times. What they saw as naïveté in my youth, I saw as strength and freedom.”

“The concept of ‘young blood’ was bigger than one song for me,” she continues. “The phrase resonated with where I felt my music was going as a whole, so I named my EP the same title. I want to make music that sounds fresh and new. I think it has a lot to do with my age. I see kids in my generation pushing the boundaries of what music should sound like, and I want to do the same.”
