Forester - Kerosene (2019) Hi-Res

Los Angeles natives Xander Carlson and David Parris (aka Forester) first began working together after meeting at a high school party when they were just 16. The two quickly bonded over their mutual distaste towards the overly-manicured urban lifestyle they grew up surrounded by on the Westside. As a result, the two found a grounding escape in natural places, including the Sierra Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. These were places that provided an antidote to the fake relationships, haughty personalities, and constant distractions of city life. In many ways, the two found themselves caught between city and nature. Kerosene, the duo’s debut concept album, is an exploration of the collision of these two worlds. By combining synthetically produced sounds (a metaphor for the city) and organically derived elements (nature), the two have crafted a unique sound that integrates indie acoustic folk with the energy and structure of modern popular music. Through this template, they explore themes like lost love, the search for passion, and the healing properties of nature.
