Various Artists - The Northern Soul Of Jewel-Paula-Ronn (2015) [Hi-Res]

Northern Soul fans may already by familiar with a few of the tracks on here, ones that have appeared on other collections, such as "I'm Waiting" by Billy Bush, "I'm Undecided" by Toussaint McCall, and "Everything Good To You" by Bobby Patterson (an artist that has a fine reissue of his own material on CD), But that's just the tip of the iceberg for the great songs to be found on this collection, spanning the years 1965 to 1975. Probably my favorite song on here is one that barely qualifies as Northern Soul, veering more into pop territory, but it's so wonderful you can't not love it: "Not That Long Ago," by the Uniques featuring Joe Stampley on lead vocals. And yes, that's the same Joe Stampley that later enjoyed a long run of hits on the country charts.
