The Hubbels were Robert Hubbel and Mary Ann Frazell. They first met at Wittenberg University School Of Music in Springfield, Ohio in 1966. Frazell was a native of Dayton, Ohio and Hubbel hailed from Tarrytown, New York.
While at Wittenberg, the duo toured with the school’s choir throughout South America, performing in Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Puerto Rico. Upon returning to the states, they toured the Eastern Seaboard ending the tour in New York City and recording this album there in late1968.
The album contains an excellent combination of Pop and Folk Rock at times sounding very similar to the Mamas & Papas, with all original compositions by Robert Hubbel save for a “folk-rock styled” rendition of “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”. Also featured here is the duo’s hit recording “Hippy Dippy Funky Monkey Double Bubble Sitar Man. A fantastic album that’s begging for an official CD release.
