A concert in Buenos Aires in 2017, initially thought of as an eventual collaboration between the participating musicians, was the origin of this first album by the Saluzzi-Fracchi-Bisgaard trio. The connection that was generated between its members was so strong that this unique concert became a permanent collaboration that led the trio to make three successful tours of Denmark and Argentina in 2018 and to craft this plate.

Recorded in both countries, presented last October in Denmark and released this year in Argentina through the Ceibo Música label, Lugar collects what the group exhibited during those tours: a repertoire based on original compositions by Saluzzi and Fracchi mixed with folk songs Danish and Argentine that combine with the climates and harmonies of jazz.

José María Saluzzi is a guitarist and composer born in Buenos Aires in 1975, in the bosom of a family of musicians, son of the famous composer and bandoneonist Dino Saluzzi, whom he accompanied by studios and concert halls around the world, first as a son and later as a musician, initially as a drummer and percussionist and from the age of 18 as a guitarist.

Also Argentine, the double bass player Juan Fracchi tends to move both within jazz and tango. He participated in countless cycles and festivals in his country and Europe and played with great musicians from the Argentine music scene such as Dino Saluzzi, Nicolás “Colacho” Brizuela, Hernán Ríos, Facundo Guevara, Nora Sarmoria, Franco Luciani, Lisandro Aristimuño, Ariel Minimal, Sergio Verdinelli and Juan Subirá, among others. He currently leads a quintet with tango roots, with a modern and current imprint, with which he recorded the album Río imaginario.

The trio is completed by the Danish Ulrik Bisgaard, a highly sought-after drummer in the jazz scene of his country for his subtle and elegant touch. Ulrik released in 2014 the acclaimed album Milonga triste with the band TangoJazz and his melodic drums can be heard at the main jazz festivals in northern Europe, playing alongside great musicians of Nordic jazz such as Pernille Bevort, Morten Ankarfeldt or Jens Jefsen.

All three offer an original proposal, with an acoustic musical approach, almost chamber music and full of suggestive atmospheres that motivate us to wait for an upcoming work.
