The Space Age Travellers - Spaceology (2021)

Holland’s finest retro-guitar instrumental music trio, The Space Age Travellers turned heads around with their 2019 album called @Ventures In The Shadows. Picking up from where that first SAT album left off, the 2021 CD release of Spaceology will no doubt please long-time fans of this popular band and those new to the Space Age Travellers phenomenon. Although The Shadows and The Ventures remain influences, Space Age Travellers guitar ace BJ Baartmans continues stretching the sonic envelope, mixing the sounds of 1960s flavored surf-guitar music with fretboard influences from masters such as Ry Cooder and Jeff Beck as well as adding in elements of guitar jazz and neotraditional Northern European melodies. In the spirit of that first SAT album, Spaceology is very cinematic sounding in places, no doubt inspired by BJ’s affinity for Spaghetti westerns and those suspenseful noir movies by directors like Alfred Hitchcock. The best guitar instrumental music is often eclectic, with all kinds of sonic signposts, and staying true to their widescreen musical mission, Space Age Travellers corners the market with the guitar-centric instrumentals on their 2021 masterpiece Spaceology.
