Vancouver saxophonist Dylan Cramer takes a handful of jazz standards plus some 'film classics' and breathes new life into them. This recording features a collection of warm romantic melodies, fiery swing beats, and blues-drenched ballads. Dylan's phrasing is melodic, overlaying his style onto the pieces without losing the songs famous feelings. A student of the late great sax legend, Sonny Criss, Cramer's playing is reminiscent of the L.A. school of cool jazz.
"... an engaging set by a fine alto player ... Dylan Cramer is a talent worth seeking out."
Jazz 52nd Street
"If one word could describe Vancouver alto saxophonist Dylan Cramer, it would be soulful."
The Vancouver Sun
"The mood is mellow but the horn isn't. As the chords float in sweetly, Dylan Cramer moves strong: the tone is creamy and the confidence abundant. It's a full-throated approach we haven't heard in a while; that's expected, as he was taught by Sonny Criss. The elegant blends well with the forceful - it tickles your ears and makes you take notice. And that makes for a memorable night."
Jazz Improv
"There is no fault to be found in Cramer's beautiful tone and song choice."All About Jazz
