Kevin Roth - The Living and the Breathing Wind (1981)

On his tenth album for Folkways, dulcimer player and singer Kevin Roth performs a mix of five vocals and seven instrumentals. Roth opens with the title track by fellow singer Andrew Calhoun. Along his musical journey Roth plays several traditional instrumentals including the medley “Kemp’s Jig/Over the Rainbow” and four French songs (Jacques Brel’s “The Song of Old Lovers” and “Marieke,” avant-garde composer Erik Satie’s “Gnosienne,” and traditional French folk song “La Carmagnole”), and sings Jimmie Rogers’ “I Love the Woman (the last blue yodel).” He closes with Marti Rogers’ “Lucid.” Folkways founder Moses Asch contributes a brief liner note.
