Lisa Björänge Quintet - For Life (2021)

For life, the title of the new album with Lisa Björänge's quintet, responds to a need of the singer, a need that also moves beyond the music: to celebrate life, to reflect life in its various expressions, to recall something that is currently being deprived of us.

Song titles such as Her goodbye, Love your garden, Where I rest and Date someone suggest the lyrical theme. The musical expression is characterized by low-key contemplation, but it is also a feeling of quiet optimism and confidence that everyday life will return.

Lisa Björänge's song emphasizes the different moods: arrow fast in the adjustments, softly lyrical but also superbly mobile when she harmonizes with the instrumental expressions and almost cheers in the scat song. Fabian Kallerdahl moves just as effortlessly over a wide register of moods and emotions, Klas Toresson is richly nuanced in his scissor play. Pär-Ola Landin on bass and drummer Jon Fält are dense and unfailingly precise.
