Sonny Stitt . . . a legend in his own time. Saxophonists the world over have been influenced by the style of Sonny Stitt. On Side One, “Got To Get Over,” Sonny combines the contemporary beat with strings and voices. This should be an example to the younger set of his versatility. As Side One continues, “Soul Girl” also uses voices and strings to carve out a beautiful version of a song dedicated to The Black Woman. Then for the the rest of Side One he uses only the rhythm section and “wails”!!! On Side Two, he changes rhythm sections and persists in perfection.

This one is a bit of a slip thru the net little known classic - recorded in Chicago with a killer line-up including Richard Evans, Jodie Christian, Cleveland Eaton, Morris Jennings, Tennyson Stephens, its a wicked relaxed Chess style deep, funk jazz. Check the audio! Wicked.
