BEN AYLON
Defined as a border-breaking musician and percussionist, Ben is known for his original “New-African” drumming, explosive burning rhythms and cutting edge hybrid drumming techniques. Ben’s solo act - One Man Tribe - presents his innovative drumming style, playing a set of 10 different African drums simultaneously, creating a massive sound of a tribe of drummers inspired by the deep Senegalese drumming traditions.
In January 2020, Ben gained national recognition in Senegal after being featured on famous Senegalese TV shows with millions of viewers and having solo shows around the capital, Dakar. His activity in Senegal led to a personal meeting with Youssou N’Dour and musical collaborations with Cheikh Lo, Omar Pene, Awadi and Doudou Ndiaye Rose.
Ben’s drumming style is considered as the ‘next generation’ of Senegalese drumming. His creation has been acknowledged and approved by master drummers Doudou N’diaye Rose, Aly Ndiaye Rose and famous Senegalese drummer families.
Ben Performed and recorded with world-renowned musicians: Doudou N’diaye Rose, Blake Mills, Cheikh Lo, Bombino, Yossi Fine, Shye Ben-Tzur, Didier Awadi, Omar Pene, Khaira Arby, Amy Sacko to name a few. Co-leading ‘Yossi Fine & Ben Aylon’, Ben toured and performed at prestigious festivals and venues all around the world including Fusion Festival, WOMEX, Shanghai World Music, Joshua Tree Music Festival, Jerusalem Sacred Music Festival and many more.
Nowadays, Ben is working on his solo project, presenting his skills as a composer/producer and a Djeli-Ngoni player, collaborating with West-African leading female singers Khaira Arby and Amy Sacko. This project’s debut album will be released on May 28th, 2021.
