Andreas Schickentanz, Köln, trombone, Elektronik. Björn Lücker, Hamburg, drums, percussion. Two instrumentalists who have made a home for themselves in the search for new possibilities and encounters between jazz and ambient music, minimalism and new music. On the one hand, Schickentanz, who quite obviously has mastered the entire sound potential of his trombone from the pure classic tone to the use of various less conventional embouchure and air techniques. However, he also further develops new soundscapes through the use of echo devices, loop generators and other electronic effects, in which the differentiations between pitch and sound, interval and melody aswell as rhythm dissolve. In contrast, Lücker moves in the opposite direction, in that he seriously views his drums as an analogue sound generator; with various types of noise-related sounds, a sound world full of polyrhythmic tension is created, in which the traces of trance (music?) and archaic frenzy resonate. Through the meeting of these two musicians, worlds collide, energy is set free, and moments of deep catharsis and subtle beauty are created. Stefan Hentz
