The group from Asheville led by Karly Hartzmann. If there is one person who contributed to this beauty, it was indeed MJ Lenderman who was present on quite a few tracks on the record in particular. Well, it's the latter that interests us on this paper because he presents us his new album called Ghost Of Your Guitar Solo.
Here, he will step away from the shoegaze, grunge and southern rock current of his cronies to draw his inspiration from the late David Berman. Indeed, like many of us, MJ Lenderman was so shocked and devastated by the tragic suicide of the brains of the Silver Jews and the short-lived Purple Mountains, that he decided to follow in his footsteps musically. And this can be heard on lo-fi and endearing compositions sometimes placed under the sign of improvisation such as the introductory title track (which will be completed by a sequel a little later) but also very short pieces rarely exceeding the two minutes like “I Ate Too Much At The Fair” and “Inappropriate”.
With the help of his roommates, MJ Lenderman will immerse us in his most mundane daily life. And it is with songs with diverse and varied moods, just like his life, such as "Gentleman's Jack" or the most jovial "Infinity Pool" with his texts truer than life where he mixes pathos and humor in order to be endearing. Ghost of Your Guitar Solo is a bit of a collection of the different slices of the life of our host with "Catholic Priest" and "Live Jack" as a conclusion showing a real sincerity throughout this first most honorable project.
