In a sweltering attic room in Amsterdam, Sam & Julia wrote their debut album in one summer; Something Somewhere. With a pile of tragicomic stories, a guitar and two voices that seem made for each other, they started to forge songs from memories. From Sam's panic attack at the Prague Zoo to Julia's countless dull dates. Something Somewhere is a story record par excellence. Sam & Julia play a new sound, amplified by their band. Americana on the edge of indie. Somewhere between Wilco's sobriety and Phoebe Bridgers' melancholy.

Sam (23) & Julia (26) met five years ago. With their striking voices and idiosyncratic songs they complement each other perfectly. The first EP, So Far, So Good (2019), was released on Tim Knol's I Love My Label and immediately put Sam & Julia on the map.

Despite the smooth writing process, it still took almost two years before Something Somewhere saw the light of day. Sam & Julia met themselves several times in Wisseloord Studios.

Something Somewhere is certainly not just anything, just anywhere. The album is a benchmark in the life of Sam & Julia. A candid coming of age story by a duo that, through trial and error, matured both musically and lyrically.
