An English folk supergroup of sorts, Carthy, Hardy, Farrell Young (Eliza Carthy, Bella Hardy, Lucy Farrell, and Kate Young) bring tradition to the table, then commence resetting it. All accomplished string players and vocalists, the quartet's eclectic tastes, which range from traditional U.K. folk ("Little Birds," "Chickens in the Garden") to American gospel ("Better Home") and pop ("Walking After Midnight"), may shock some folk purists, but each performance on this wonderfully diverse and homey collection of songs is delivered with the kind of easy merriment that can only come from seasoned players, expert troublemakers, and longtime friends.
