Vondelier - Vondelier (2021)

VONDELIER is a jazz band with an unusual line-up of vocals, two guitars and double bass.

William Barrett writes the music pieces for Vondelier together with Amsterdam poet Mark Opfer. Mark's lyrical lyrics and Williams jazz compositions are fused into a musical work. In the autumn of 2020 Vondelier recorded her debut album in the legendary studio Fattoria Musica, 8 very strong pieces of music were released there. This summer Vondelier presents her first album of the same name, 'Vondelier'.

How do you keep your humanity in an increasingly less human world? Nothing connects us more than language. We are read in it, make the best friendships with it and thus express our love. After traveling extensively, repairing houses and reading poetry, lyricist Mark Opfer and composer William Barrett found a symbiosis in music and language. Vondelier uses clear, warm sounds and narrative texts to create a world in which you enter a dreamy adventure. Our music comes to life by Laura Dooge (vocals), William Barrett (double bass), Gijs Idema & Linus Eppinger (guitar).
