The interest in rhythmic music in the Danish folk churches has increased steadily in recent times - both from the churches and churchgoers. Mads Houe rides this wave with his upcoming release - Moderne Messe. The idea for the mass arose when Mads Houe missed a more contemporary format on the Danish National Church's music program, which could reinterpret its messages.

Therefore, he has translated the original high mass texts into everyday Danish with the help of trained Latin lecturers and given them new melodies and arrangements. The music is original and written for orchestra with strings, winds, rhythm group and singing in a modern style - inspired by Nordic jazz (eg J. Buchanan) and modern classical (B. Bartok and O. Messiaen).

“The High Mass's deep lyrics contain both grace and fragility, which I have chosen to support and convey with my fair music in an exciting and relatable way. It is my wish that it will remind the Danes of the joy of the church's community and life with faith. ” - explains Mads Houe.

Mads Houe is an aspiring jazz bassist from Aalborg, who in recent years has made a national mark with two releases with the group Mads Houe & The Quavers and big band events written for i.a. Aarhus Jazz Orchestra. In addition, he has been a pioneer for the jazz community in Aalborg through countless concert productions and his role as chairman of the festival Meutiviti.

The orchestra consists almost exclusively of jazz musicians from North Jutland. The musicians in Moderne Messe in Danish have been carefully selected with a view to creating a super organic interplay and a high musical caliber, with both difficult written passages and completely free frames: Matias Fischer-Mogensen, Jens Christian Kwella, Carsten Kær Nielsen, Lars Von Liljenskjold , Jakob Mygind, Jonas Lindh, Erik Michaelsen, Marius Ungureanu, Kristine Kier Jørgensen, Kenneth Dahl Knudsen and Diana Haugland Jensen.
