It's been almost three years since Dubbo was treated to the talents of country music sensation, Lee Kernaghan.

The original boy from the bush is set to make a return to town, playing the Dubbo Show on Friday night as part of an 18-month long tour to promote his new album titled 'Beautiful Noise'.

Speaking to Mornings presenter Dugald Saunders, the singer opened up about being out on the road again for the long tour.

"We love it and it's a big country! We get out and do one or two week runs. We go away just as long for our families to miss us, then we come back home! It keeps it all fresh too. I remember back in the '90s, we'd be out non-stop and you do tend to burn out. This way you're a lot fresher, you're on top of it and you can put on a better show."

When asked about his latest album, Lee said it represented another chapter in his life.

"Each album, from the Outback Club on, it's just been like a chapter in my life story. There's a bunch of songs about people that I've met, places I've been and things I've experienced. It's all wrapped up into songs."

The country crooner will play material from his new album, along with many of his well-known and popular hits dating back to his first release, "Outback Club".

Hear Lee discuss how he prepares for the stage, the direction of his latest work, connecting with his audience and how each stop on the road influences and inspires where his music goes next.
