James Gilchrist, Adrienne Murray, Michael Cox, David Dubery, Cavaleri Quartet - David Dubery: Observations (2014) [Hi-Res]

South African born composer David Dubery has lived and worked in Manchester since 1961 and has a very busy career as composer, pianist, teacher and voice coach (working with manyWest Endmusical casts).

He is firmly in the contemporary post-modernist arena, music which is highly lyrical and expressive, approachable and rich. His settings here of poems by Douglas Gibson,Walter de la Mare and others show a deep feeling for the texts and are exquisitely crafted.

His Cuarteto Ibérico (Ghosts of Times Past) is a musical picture of four Spanish locations and captures the Spanish dance and song tradition perfectly.
